Privacy policy

Purrk plays sounds for pets. This policy says what the app stores, where, and how you can delete it. In short: without an account, everything stays on your phone. We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across apps.
Using Purrk without an account
Your pets, patterns, playlists, favorites, notes, ratings, recordings and settings are saved only on your phone. Purrk sends none of it to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
What we store when you sign in
An account is optional. It backs up your data and lets you share sounds. With an account we store:
- Your email address, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your pets: name, kind of animal, and breed and birthday if you add them. Pet photos stay on your phone.
- Your patterns, playlists, favorites, notes and ratings.
- Your recordings: the audio files, their titles, and the pet and animal you tag them with.
- If you use the community: the sounds you share (audio, title, description, animal and pet name), the sounds you like, the reports you send, and the people you hide.
- The date you accepted the sharing terms.
We use this data only to run Purrk: to sync your devices, show the community, and keep it safe. We do not use it for advertising.
The microphone and recordings
Purrk uses the microphone only while you record a sound. Recordings can pick up voices and other sounds in the room. Listen before you share, and share only what you are happy for anyone to hear.
Sharing to the community
A shared sound shows its title, description, animal and your pet's name. It never shows your name or email. Anyone using Purrk can play it and use it in their patterns. Before a sound is public, a computer checks that it is an animal sound. People can report sounds, and we review reports.
Who processes the data
We use these service providers. They handle the data for us and only as we instruct:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, in the United States (Oregon).
- Amazon Web Services: checks and converts shared sounds, in the United States (Oregon).
- Google (Gmail): sends the sign-in code emails.
Like most online services, these providers keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security and to fix problems.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete it or your account. A sound you delete, or one we remove, is deleted from our storage. Copies saved on other people's phones are deleted the next time their app goes online.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Account and choose Delete account. Without the app, use the account deletion page.
Your shared sounds leave the community right away, and your data is hidden. 30 days later, the account and everything stored with it are deleted for good: email, pets, patterns, playlists, favorites, recordings, shared sounds, likes, reports and hidden people. Until then you can sign in again and restore it. Data saved only on your phone stays there until you delete the app.
Your rights
You can see, correct and delete your data in the app at any time. For a copy of your data, or for any other request, write to support@purrk.app. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Purrk is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. For important changes, we also tell you in the app.
